Six Favorable and Unfavorable Principles by Srila Rupa Goswami

The Six Favorable Principles

1. BEING ENTHUSIASTIC
Every endeavor in Krsna consciousness is performed with intelligence. The devotees are expert in engaging everything in Krsna's service. The practice of devotional service has nothing to do with selfish meditation, but means practical activity in spiritual life.

2. ENDEAVORING WITH CONFIDENCE
The devotee thinks "avasya raksibe Krsna": Krsna will certainly help and protect me, so that I can successfully execute my devotional service.

Without the mercy of a devotee nobody can approach the Lord directly

Actually, without the mercy of a devotee nobody can approach the Lord directly and it is easier to get mercy of a devotee than to get mercy of the Lord.

Prabhupada: Lord Nityananda, when passing on the street, saw a crowd of people howling at some incident, and on inquiry it was found that there were two rascals of the then name Jagai and Madhai. They were always disturbing people in drunken condition. Nityananda Prabhu thought it wise that these two brothers may be delivered so that Lord Caitanya's mercy could be well known all over the world.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Appearance Day

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born in Mayapur in the town of Nadia, just after sunset on the evening of the 23rd Phalguna 1407 Shakabda, corresponding to February 18th, 1486 of the Christian Era. The moon was eclipsed at the time of His birth, and the people of Nadia were then engaged, as usual on such occasions, in bathing in the Bhagirathi (Ganges River) with loud cheers of “Haribol!” His father, Jagannath Mishra, was a poor Brahmana (priest) of the Vedic order, and His mother Sachidevi was a woman of ideal character. Both descended from Brahmana families originally residing in Sylhet.

Bābājīs

Throughout the course of his preaching career Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī awarded paramahaṁsa-veśa (the dress of a paramahaṁsa) to thirteen disciples. 13 Except for being white, their attire was the same as that of Gauḍīya Maṭha sannyasis—a cotton cloth knotted at the neck and partially covering the upper body, and a lower piece wrapped around the waist and legs, reaching to or just above the ankles, without a kaccha—thus differing from the short off-white cloth (also called paramahaṁsa-veśa, or bhek) typical of non–Gauḍīya Maṭha bābājīs.

Condolences to His Grace Sacidulal Dasa prabhuji's family and the devotee community

Hare Krishna 🙏🏻

We are deeply saddened to inform on dated 28th January 2024 the departure of our dear senior devotee friend/mentor/counselor His Grace Sacidulal Dasa prabhuji(Sudipta Kumar Bhuyan) at his residence in Guhawati.

I am sure all of us have very fond memories of Prabhuji.

Prabhuji is a disciple of His Holiness Tamal Krishna Goswami Maharaj and has served Maharaj personally.

His Holiness Indradyumna Swami Maharaj

His Holiness Indradyumna Swami Maharaj is a dedicated senior disciple of Srila Prabhupada, who joined ISKCON in Detroit in 1970, received initiation in 1971, and accepted sannyasa in 1979.

☀️ Taking to heart the direct instruction received from Srila Prabhupada: “preach boldly and have faith in the holy names”, Maharaja has circled the globe over 35 times preaching Krishna consciousness practically in all the six habitable continents, through his festival programs and preaching tours.

Congregational Preaching

The Early Days

During the early days of the Hare Krishna movement, spiritual life was perceived as meaning to live in the temple as a full-time devotee. The word “devotee” referred to someone who was living in a temple and engaged in temple activities full time. Those who lived outside were referred to as “karmis”. That early phase of ISKCON was probably unavoidable. Srila Prabhupada had just started the movement in the West where practically no one had any idea about Krishna Consciousness or devotional service. Therefore, such commitment and involvement was essential.

Gauranga!!!

In the afternoon of August 7 th 2013, I was attempting to bank Krishna’s laksmi. My bank is a very good bank because its employees often buy Krishna’s books. I use a different bank than Iskcon. At one Brisbane branch, one lady recently bought three Kurma vegetarian cookbooks for her vegetarian daughter. This particular non-Brisbane branch was no exception. One lady not only confirmed that she already owned some Krishna books but agreed then and there to add a copy of Renunciation Through Wisdom to her existing collection.
