Rama Navami

Sri RamNavami Festival 2024 ISKCON Seshadripuram

Rama-navami is the  appearance day of Lord Sri Ramachandra. He is known as Maryada-purushottama for He always set an excellent example of how to be a king, husband and an individual person. This day of Rama-navami brings us great spiritual asset of devotion in our hearts when we selflessly serve Lord Rama through serving His devotees by feeding them His prasadam.

During Ram Navami celebrations, devotees engage in various activities to commemorate Lord Rama's birth.

  • Kirtan and Bhajans: Devotees gather to sing kirtans and bhajans that glorify Lord Rama's divine qualities and pastimes. The chanting of Lord Rama's holy name is a central aspect of the celebration.
  • Lectures and Discourses: Spiritual discourses and lectures are conducted to narrate stories from the Ramayana, emphasizing the teachings and virtues of Lord Rama. These discussions aim to inspire and guide the devotees in their spiritual journey.
  • Arati and Puja: Special arati  and puja ceremonies are performed to honor Lord Rama. Devotees offer flowers, incense, and food items to the deity as a symbol of their devotion and gratitude.
  • Feasting: A significant part of celebrations is the distribution of prasadam, sanctified food that is offered to the deity and then shared among devotees and attendees. This communal meal promotes a sense of unity and harmony among participants.
  • Devotional Services: Devotees engage in various devotional services, such as reading and discussing the pastimes of Lord Rama, offering prayers, and participating in group meditation.

Ram Navami celebrations provide an opportunity for devotees to connect with the spiritual essence of Lord Rama's teachings and to deepen their devotion to the Supreme. While ISKCON's main focus remains on Lord Krishna, the celebration of Ram Navami showcases the organization's respect for all forms of the divine and their commitment to promoting spiritual growth and harmony.
